If You Need Hot Food Fast, Fast, Fast, I have the Answer!
If you’ve been through some of my website or indeed, you’ve been through some of the reviews I have here for you, you might think I was concentrating solely on microwave ovens for personal use. However, as my research proved they’re just as important in the commercial environment.
It suddenly occurred to me when I came across the Panasonic NE-1054F that if you have an office or convenience store, a microwave is really useful. It’s even more vital if you have say, a fast food restaurant. Being able to provide hot food that’s been heated properly requires a microwave that will deliver what it promises, and in my opinion, this one does!
If you’re interested in reading more about this model, the chances are you need to make a decision “pronto”. So without further ado, I’ll get straight on to the important stuff!
Power and Capacity
This unit has a 1000 watt power output and (in case you hadn’t already noticed) 0.8 cu ft of space inside. The cavity within is easily large enough to deal with all sorts of dishes you might need to put food or beverages in. Anything from coffee mugs, dinner plates to large casserole dishes can be put in this little beast!
You won’t find a turntable inside this microwave which is somewhat of a “put-off” for a lot of people because we all think this is the only way to get evenly cooked or heated food. However, Panasonic has used an innovative piece of technology to combat this.
Instead of the energy coming from the side or top, it comes from the bottom. This means it gets to the food or liquids much quicker and results in food and drinks being evenly cooked. It also means you don’t have to wait as long for everything to be ready, and more space is saved because of the lack of a turntable.
It has to be said this isn’t the prettiest microwave on the market. That is to say it does look like a microwave. However, the manufacturer has done a good job overall. It’s a standard microwave shape and has a stainless steel cabinet and door trim.
There is a light that illuminates the inside of the microwave when it’s in use so you can keep an eye on everything but when that’s off the glass front is black. This matches the handle and background on the control panel to the right.
Speaking of the handle, this is a feature that cannot be overlooked. There are no moving parts you find with push button type designs or, indeed, traditional type handles. As an alternative (and a very clever one) the manufacturer has used something called “grab and go” technology. This makes it more durable as a result (perfect for frequent use).
The controls on this microwave have also been thought about and with a fast paced environment in mind. What you will first notice is there are 10 programmable touch-control keys. These start at 10 seconds and go up as far as 3 minutes 30 seconds which I think is a really neat feature. If you know the amount of time you need, simply pop the food in, hit the button and away you go!
Of course, if you have something a little more complicated to cook, there is the option to choose up to 99.99 minutes and the manufacturer has included two and three stage cooking times. If that wasn’t enough the whole keypad has Braille to help enhance ease of use.
A Few Little Extras
It’s important to know this microwave is NSF approved which means it’s easy to clean (imperative in a working kitchen). It has touch-button tone control, self-diagnostics and even chef technical support.
All in all, there is little to be said about this microwave that’s negative. It’s quick, robust, easy to use and best of all a pretty reasonable price considering what you get for your money. Even if you’re not looking for an oven like this to use in a commercial kitchen, it might still be an idea to take a look at the prices Amazon has to offer. They may still have the great discounts I saw last time!
